Art & Wine around Healesville

A bit of culture today, we ventured into the Yarra Valley. A thought provoking exhibition by Danie Mellor is currently on display at Turrawurra Museum of Art near Healesville. Beautiful works of blue and white, accented with gold and swarovski crystals the largest work is 3m x 3.6m.  The gallery is open Tuesday – Sunday 11am till 5pm and is one of Australia’s first privately funded significant public museums.  Tarrawarra Estate winery and restaurant is a few steps away.  We tasted the Reds and left with the K-block Merlot.  On to Healesville we wandered the shopping strip finally deciding on lunch at the RSL.  Generous sizings and reasonably priced meals on offer noon till 2pm daily.  With full bellies our last stop for the day was the Healesville Glass Blowing Studio, stunning glass works, unfortunately little of it is affordable.  From the raised studio we watched beginners heat, shape, blow and colour their own little pieces, all very proud of their creations.  As the cold air began to descend we headed home quietly reflecting on another enjoyable afternoon in the Yarra Valley.
